Adult narratives of childhood language brokering: Learning what it means to be bilingual

This paper analyses the retrospective narratives of an adult language broker. Language brokering involved not only learning how to translate/interpret for others, but also understanding meaning that Spanish and English assumed in society ways which she her parents were socially positioned. was both psychosocial agentic. The participant had align respect for, protectiveness of, with disrespect harsh judgement sensed from those whom they sought communicate various sites. illuminates complexity processes developing multilingual practices identities their intersectional relational multisitedness.
